Piggy bank mason jars

I was watching a show the other day called "Good Things Utah," and they had a segment on there about finances and stuff. Well, they suggested instead of doing one piggy bank for your kids, have them separate their money by how you want to distribute your money. So, the two that they suggested were "Savings," "Spending," and the other one that I decided to do was "Tithing," which is a contribution we make for our church. They suggested to have them put their money in clear jars so that they can see the progress of their savings, spending, etc.

So, I decided I would use this idea and decorate the jars so cute for Audrey. Here is what I did:

Gathered the supplies I needed for this project; Mason jars, paper of your choice, modge podge glue and any ribbon you like.

Then I put a layer of glue on the jar and cut my paper to the desired width and length to fit across the jar.

Then I put the paper around the part that was glued. 

Then after I did that I took a card that I didn't need anymore and smoothed it out so that there weren't any air bubbles or extra glue stuck in there. 

Then after I was finished with that I let it dry for about 15 minutes and added a top layer of glue to the paper on the jar to kind of seal it on there. 

Then I cut out another strip of paper and added that to the top of the first paper and did the same gluing process. 

Then I added some ribbon and tied it around the jars. I think I might want to use Rafia instead though. I think it will look really cute. 

I guess you could technically write the words that go on your jar before you add the ribbon and stuff. Oh well. Anyways, I would have printed this out and used cute fonts but I still don't have any ink so, I had to be creative and try to make it look cute. 

I added paper to the top of the jar and am thinking that I am going to try to put a slit at the top of the jars so that she can just drop her money in it instead of having to open the lid all the time. Oh and I am not sure if the way I modge podged this project was the correct way or not. It just seemed to work for me. :)

Oh and one more thing,  haha sorry. I had all of the supplies for this project. I had those mason jars left over from when I canned peaches last week, so really this project didn't cost me anything. :)
